2013

In August of 2001, after living in Nashville for 20 years, my husband Bobby of 14 years, and our son Luke age 12 moved to Pine Island Florida to be closer to my Mom.
We couldn't be happier living on this quaint, quiet 16 mile long island with no traffic lights.
Luke is an Honor Roll 6th grader who is into R.C. Racing. Bobby has an incredible green thumb so we grow our own mangos, advacados, bananas, grapefruit, papays, and oranges, along with 29 coconut trees. Life is sweet.
I want more than anything to go tho the May 15, 50th Birthday Reunion. It would be so cool to see all of your. "George is the Best" for putting our GNS 1972 website together. I had often thought over the past 30 years what became of everyone. Thank you George for making it possible for us to keep in touch. Hope to see yo all. Happy 50th Birthday. Love, Mimi[Patty]

Hi George,
Wow...I can't believe it's been 9 years since the 50th birthday bash get together I attended. Time has flown by. I would look at the website every now and then, but it's been about 4 years since I even thought to look. I recently spent about 3 hours checking out what's been going on. I was saddened to hear of the passing of those within the past 5 years. I had been very busy taking care of my mom, from 2007 till her passing March 2010. It was a very difficult time, emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Then I had the "job" of settling the estate, and selling the property. Another very difficult situation. Five months after mom passed, our son left for college at UCF, Orlando. I was completely lost. Then I got very sick with shingles in my eye, and all around the right side of my forehead and scalp. It was excruciating pain. I can't see very clearly out of the eye now. End of November 2010, I had to have shoulder surgery....not a fun time either. The shoulder froze, and took I year before I could raise it up all the way.
Three years have past now and life is back to normal. Our son is doing awesome in college. August he starts his 4th year. He's majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He got a job with one of his professors who has a company called "Hoverfly"( check it out, hoverfly.com). They build Quad copters that are remote control, with cameras attached. Used for any kind of aerial videoing.
I bought myself a handsome black standard puppy. I do the grooming myself. It's fun! He turned 2 years April 2013. We did a lot of puppy classes and socializing, cause my goal is to do therapy with him. He has to get certified. He has one more test to pass. Then we will go into nursing homes, hospitals, etc. to bring some joy to the people who spend their days just sitting there. This is my new "purpose " in life. I love to make people happy, and if I can bring them some joy, then my heart is happy.
Other than that, everything here on little "Pine Island " is good. We're still growing lots of mangos, Papayas, and Avocado. We have 4 rescued cats, Sam, Pie Pie, Lila, and Bella. Zeus, our Sulcata Tortoise, is now 25 lbs. Will grow to be around 110lbs. He's 4 years old and lives in the backyard.
You are amazing George! It is so great that you continue to keep Great Neck South 1972 memories alive. THANK YOU!
Be safe and well,

Mimi
