50th Birthday Bash - 05/15/2004

All day party in Great Neck

GREAT NECK SOUTH

YOUR 50THBIRTHDAY

May 15, 2004

What a day we had!  About 40 former classmates gathered at the girl’s gym for our tour of School.

Paul Meyer [our former soccer coach and Gail’s older brother] led us on a tour through the halls of our High School.                      We started at the Main lobby, viewed the new music rooms and proceeded to the girl’s gym.  Then we back tracked to the    library.     By then some late comers caught up with us.

We headed to the lunch rooms and took a short break while Paul explained the changes in school policy.   The school is on a “lock down”.  No more venturing off campus for lunch and  joy rides.   Long Island is getting very crowded and teen auto accidents are on the increase.

We ended our adventure at the newly expanded Boys Gym.   Memories of graduation day filled the room.    Some of us went to a county championship baseball game down at the field.  Eddie Ford’s son was playing!!

Next on the agenda was our pizza party at Gino’s.  New York pizza, what a treat!  About 70   joined in on the fun.   My daughter Danielle handled getting name tags on everyone and taking some photos.

During the day small groups ventured back to the old neighborhoods and checked out there   old houses and elementary schools.

After Gino’s we strolled over to The Inn at Great Neck.  We were treated like we owned the place.  Actually one of us does.      Thanks to Joey Mindal for setting us up.

Fran Paltrow ordered us a cake to help us celebrate our 50th.   Additional classmates joined us    at the Inn and we carried on till 1am.  Some of us had dinner in the dining room and others ate at the bar.  Dean Silverstein arrived late with his beautiful wife     and caught up with the celebration.

All in all we had about 90 classmates join us though out the day.   A few of us did the full 15 hours.   We really had a great experience and enjoyed seeing everyone.   Thank you all for attending.  A special thank you to Paul Meyer [tour], David & Lois Einsidler [photos and unlimited energy], Fran Paltrow[cake] , Janice Brown[weekly emails encouraging me to keep going],      Tom Maslow and David Weinstein for 50 years of continuous friendship.
